This summer i spent two weeks in Burgos, Spain. This is a little diary of my time there.
Burgos is a town of about 100,000 people. Its a quite little college town filled with the elderly and TONS of shopping (but all of it a little too expensive for a college girl on a budget)! But its nice and clean the weather was beautiful.
Myself and two other students from Iowa State got to go to Burgos to participate in an "Intensive Program" run by the European Union. Our program was titled "Food and the Consumer" but really focused on all areas of food science. The program brought together kids/college and grad students from across Europe. This is the city gate of Burgos, the cathedral is immediatly behind it, behind that is the city center.

We stayed in the delux accomodations of the San Agustin. A hostel in the summer, a dormitory during the school year. The rooms were on the institutional side and the food service was barely edible but the beds were comfortable and the program paid for it.

Now for the sights of Brugos:
From the observation deck above the city:
The catherdral:

The cathedral had just finished a 15 year restoration and everything was beautiful.
The center ceiling:
Almost all of the original stained class windows were blown out when Napoleon's troops conquered the town. This is one of the two original windows with a brilliant blue that can no longer be created.
The cute little river that runs all through the town:
There's also a river walk with lots of fountains and statues:
The other parts of my journey:
